Rice and Hair Growth

A simple rice water rinse is what many social media influencers say is the secret to their long, shiny hair. China and Southeast Asia have long reaped the benefits of rice water for hair, despite the fact that this do-it-yourself method of hair care is still in its infancy in Canada, the United States and many other parts of the world.

The practise is based on a fairly straightforward idea. Amino acids, vitamins, antioxidants, minerals (such as zinc and magnesium) and other nutrients that are good for hair are abundant in rice. These nutrients are absorbed by the water when it is soaked and tbey can then be transferred to the hair.

So, is rice water effective for growing hair?

One study demonstrated that rice water's inositol, a compound that repairs damaged hair and protects it from future damage, was effective. By reducing breakage, this may make hair growth appear earlier. Rice water is also thought to promote a healthy scalp and lessen scalp irritation, making it ideal for regular hair growth. The starch in rice also covers hair strands, giving the impression of thicker hair. Additionally, the starch might help smooth frizz and give hair more body and shine.

When rice is cooked or soaked, the water that remains turns into a starchy substance that may be able to soothe hair, make it shinier and speed up its growth.

The treatment's starch coats the hair with protein to strengthen the strands and give it shine.

Rice has a lot of folate- a powerful B vitamin. Amino acids, antioxidants and minerals like zinc and magnesium help nourish dry, brittle hair and treat scalp conditions.

Rice water may assist in detangling and soothing hair.

Rice water can give your hair extra body and shine as well as the nutrients it needs. however, exercise caution not to go overboard! When used excessively, rice water can dry out your hair due to its high protein content. This side effect is especially noticeable to people whose hair tends to get dry.

1. Wash the rice and mix it with fresh water.

2. Rub the rice for 5-10 minutes to ensure all of its nutrients are absorbed into the water.

Pour the rice water into a pot by sifting it. For a more pleasant aroma, add an orange/ pomelo peel or your favourite essential oil.

3. Over the stove, warm the rice water for 15 minutes on low eat, stirring occasionally.

4. Pour the water and peels into a container to cool, then ferment let it ferment over night.

Shake the starchy mixture before pouring it into a spray bottle. You can store any remaining rice water in the refrigerator for up to a week..

Rinse hair thoroughly with shampoo

Spread the product evenly throughout the hair and scalp

Massage gently for a few minutes then let it sit in the hair for 20 min

Shampoo then style as usual

Apply rice water for hair growth no more than twice per week for best results. Before applying the rice water treatment, use a conditioner if your hair feels dry.
